Tennant's Rhyhorn

The Tennant's Rhyhorn is a very rare subspecies of Rhyhorn scarcely found on the high mountains of the Johto region, most specifically near the rough edges of Mount Quena. like the other breeds of Rhyhorn, they have terrible eyesight and rely heavily on their sense of smell and hearing to get around and properly identify things. though unlike the other breeds, this particular Rhyhorn has a special feat, its most common ability is Sand Stream, an ability it shares with Pokemon like Tyranitar and Hippowdon. this allows it to create a sandstorm from the holes in its body to better protect itself from predators. it prefers this method of protection as its horn is actually quite fragile and not exactly meant to be used as a weapon, but instead as a decoration for showing off and attracting mates.

It's not yet understood why, but these particular Rhyhorn have difficulty reproducing, as many pregnancies in females tend to lead to stillborns.
strange, considering that this was NOT the case over about 100 years ago when they were much, much more common. one theory is that this is simply natures way of saying that; 'this species has lived long enough, and it's time to go'. but many researchers like Professor Elm are doing everything they can to keep these Pokemon alive.
