Baroque the Sceptile

So hey, check out this character I'll probably never draw again for obvious reasons.
either way, this guy was loads of fun to draw. I had to listen to about 2-3 hours worth of Reggae music in order to get into the right mood to finally drawing him after like, 6 months of having his concept in my head...man that was a fun journey all on its own.

Okay,but goofing around set aside, I thought I'd introduce you all to Johanna's starter Pokemon, Baroque the Sceptile.

As you can probably already tell, he's a very odd Sceptile, and that's because he's of the Island Fern variety, a specially bred Pokemon that often tends to cost up to $100,000. Luckily for Johanna, these rather expensive Pokemon, tend to look almost completely identical to the common types as Treeko, not really getting their beautiful and vibrant markings until they reach their second stage of evolution, it's thought that he somehow must have gotten mixed up in a starter batch, and she was just lucky enough to pick him.

What makes him even more odd though, is a bad habit that he picked up from around living with another set of people.
the people that had him before were illegally growing Magnevile moss (it acts very similar to our world's Cannabis) and selling it on the sidelines while they were breeding the Treeckos. he was always interested in the funny smelling plants and managed to obtain an already lit 'joint', after that, he was hooked, unfortunately.

Now living away from the breeding house, you'd think that would be the end of his moss cravings, right?
Wrong...Sceptile are not stupid, they are known for being very cunning Pokemon, and when they want something, they will go through any lengths imaginable to obtain it. he was smart enough to get some of that moss and hide it on his tail and various other parts of his body and used Aromatherapy (a move that's special to the Island fern Treecko line only) to mask its scent. he would move the moss to other parts of his body as he grew and got bigger, and when he evolved into a Sceptile, he finally decided that the best place to store it was in the leafy fern-like growths on his tail, even to this day, the moss is stuck to him him.

Because of this, he likes to stay close to water (which is normally unusual for them) to keep the moss damp until 'the right time', and since the moss is now practically apart of him, whatever he eats is also nourishment for the moss as well. another reason for why he refuses to give it up is because he believes he is able to fight better when he's under its influence.

Because of this addiction of his, he was unable to leave the Hoenn region with his trainer.
Magnevile moss is not native to Johto at all and they prefer to keep it that way, so unfortunately, he had to be left behind with Prof. Birch, who offered to try and see if he could help get rid of his addiction (to this day, still unsuccessful).

Other quick facts;

-34 years old
- 6 feet tall
- 420 lbs (did you catch that reference?)
- spoke with a very heavy Hoennic accent (similar to real word Jamaican accents)
- catchphrase was; "Ah, very good!"
-his closest friend was Magenta the Mightyena
-is literally baked half the time. this is obvious due to the whites of his eyes being red all the time.
